Emergencies and walk-ins are always welcome!
Any injury to the teeth or gums can be potentially serious and should not be ignored. Hoping a dental problem will go away is not the answer. By delaying your visit, you increase the risk of permanent damage as well as the need for more extensive treatment down the road.
Remember at Southwest Dental Group we have sedation dentistry. We want totake special care of you. There is no longer a need to avoid important dental care!

Here's a quick summary of conditions you want to pay special attention to:
Toothaches can be very painful. At first sign of an ache or pain, sensitivity to cold or hot liquids, call us to schedule a visit and evaluation.
Abscesses are infections that occur around the root of a tooth or in the space between the teeth and gums. Abscesses are a serious condition that can damage tissue and surrounding teeth. Because of the serious oral health and general health problems that can result from an abscess, call us to come in right away.
Chipped or broken teeth. Save any pieces, and call us or stop in for treatment as soon as possible.
Knocked-out tooth. Find the tooth and hold it by the crown (the part that is usually exposed in the mouth), and rinse it off with water if it's dirty. Put the tooth in a small container of milk or cup of water that contains a pinch of table salt, if milk is not available). In all cases, come in as soon as possible.
Extruded (partially dislodged) tooth. See one of our dentists right away. To relieve pain, apply a cold compress to the outside of the mouth or cheek in the affected area.
Objects caught between teeth. If you can't get the object out with dental floss, be sure to see one of our dentists. Never use a sharp object to try to pry or poke out a stuck object. You can cut your gums or scratch your tooth’s surface.
Lost filling. Come in as soon as possible upon losing a filling. Bring in the piece(s) with you. Try not to eat or drink sugary foods or beverages prior to having your tooth repaired.
Lost crown. If a crown falls off, make an appointment to see us right away. Bring the crown with you. Do not try to replace it yourself.
Broken braces wires, loose brackets and bands. See our orthodontist as soon as possible. Bring any pieces or parts with you to your appointment.
Soft-tissue injuries. Injuries to the soft tissues, which include the tongue, cheeks, gums and lips, can result in bleeding. If the bleeding doesn't stop, please call and come in to see one of our dentists right away or go to a hospital emergency room.
If you have any other conditions that are not listed here, please do not hesitate to call or stop in for our help. |
