Oral Surgery & Extractions

It’s important for you to know, we have an Oral Surgeon on staff – there’s no need to refer you anywhere else.

At Southwest Dental Group we know when you are in pain, you want quality treatment fast. With our advanced technology and panoramic digital ‘x-ray’ equipment, our Oral Surgeon is able to advise you of the best treatments available for you. Our Certified Oral Sedation specialists are ready to help you be comfortable.  Nitrous oxide is also available.

Some of the specialty areas our Oral Surgeon covers are:

Extractions and Wisdom Teeth
If you are in need of a difficult tooth extraction, an oral surgeon is often recommended. Wisdom teeth, often called third molars, are the last set of teeth to develop. Sometimes these teeth emerge from the gum line and the jaw allows room for them, but often, this is not the case. Sometimes one or more of these third molars fails to fully emerge through the gum line and becomes "impacted" between the jawbone and the gum tissue. Impacted wisdom teeth can become quite painful if not surgically removed.

Tooth Loss Corrected With Dental Implants
In conjunction with our Prosthodontist or Implant specialist, our Oral Surgeon can provide dental implants. An implant is an option for tooth loss due to an accident or infection or as an alternative to dentures. Implants are tooth root substitutes that are surgically anchored in place in the jawbone and act to stabilize the artificial teeth to which they are attached.

Jaw-Related Problems
  • Unequal jaw growth
  • Improve fit of dentures
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders

Other Conditions Treated By Oral Surgery

  • Facial injury repair
  • Lesion removal and biopsy
  • Cleft lip and cleft palate repair
  • Facial infections
  • Snoring/sleep apnea

Sedation dentistry is available for patients who require extensive dental procedures. We want you to feel at ease and safe. Oral sedations come in the form of tablets, capsules, liquids or nitrous oxide. All medications are approved for safety by the State of California and are administered by a dentist certified in oral sedation.

Your dental health is so very important! Diseases and conditions that create changes in the mouth may include, but are not limited to: infection, migraines, bulimia, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, leukemia and more.  Don’t take chances. It’s better to be safe than sorry later!  Make your appointment now if you have any pain or discomfort in your mouth or jaw.

Wisdom teeth at any age can often become painful and need to be extracted.
Our oral surgeon is ready to take special care of you.

“I was very much afraid of going to the dentist because of a bad experience many years ago. But finally, my teeth got to looking so bad, I couldn't delay any longer. I work with the public all the time, and I knew what people were thinking. When I finally went to Southwest Dental, I was shaking like a leaf. But my dentist was so clever and compassionate, I put all my trust in him. He let me know that my teeth were worth saving, and that he could make them look nice. And he did! It's made a huge difference in my self-esteem, and I don't get sick any more. It's like having a new life.”
